This Month's Devotional
Chasing and Making History…
”Then Caleb said…’we should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
In his book, The God Chasers, Tommy Tenney describes a God Chaser as an individual whose hunger exceeds his reach. A God Chaser is a person whose passion for God’s presence presses him to chase the impossible in hopes that the uncatchable might catch him. The pursuer becomes the captive; the pursuer, the captor.
Historymakers apply God’s presence to the culture. They aren’t easily satisfied, aren’t easily contained, and are not intimidated by small beginnings. Historymakers don’t make a difference in the world; they make the world a different place.
Joshua and Caleb were different. They were God Chasers and Historymakers. They contained the marks of a possessing people. A people called by God to enter and possess their God-given promotion in intimacy with the Lord called the promise land. Why settle for manna and quail when milk and honey are waiting?
So, what’s your dream? What’s your passion? Why wander in the wilderness of passivity when you can wonder at the face of God? Chase God and let Him catch you. When He does, you’ll make history. Get on your mark. Get set. Go!
